Job Opportunity !!!

Research Associate - University of Cambridge - UK

Published: 26 September 2022

Closing date: 18 October 2022

Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in malaria parasite biology. Three concurrent positions are available on a three-year appointment, funded by a Wellcome Trust grant in the laboratory of Dr Catherine Merrick. This major new project will investigate parasite epigenetics and the possibility that a novel epigenetic pathway could impact directly upon host-parasite signalling in malaria patients. It will involve a range of cutting-edge techniques in molecular genetics, genomics, biochemistry and cell biology across Plasmodium species including P. falciparum and P. knowlesi

Applicants should hold a PhD in parasitology, molecular biology or biochemistry, with skills in cell culture/molecular biology/biochemistry/genomics. Specific experience in any of the following techniques is desirable but not essential: Plasmodium culture, Plasmodium molecular genetics, protein biochemistry or mass spectrometry, genomic/transcriptomic techniques such as ChIP-seq and RNA-seq. The project will be supported by a dedicated technician and all appointees will benefit from excellent facilities, including recently-refurbished Category-3 containment laboratories, and diverse expertise at the Cambridge Pathology Department, which hosts three collaborative malaria research groups.
